Physical Education
Physical Education Leaders: Mr Rutson and Mrs Holgate
Vision
At Hinchliffe Mill our vision is to develop pupils who not only engage in physical activity but also embody these core values. We aim to cultivate individuals who support one another in their fitness journeys, communicate effectively in team settings, and act with honesty and integrity. We encourage them to be responsible in their approach to physical health, respectful in their interactions, and resilient in facing physical challenges. Above all, we strive to instil confidence, empowering pupils to take ownership of their physical well-being with enthusiasm and a lifelong commitment to health and fitness.
Through these values, we aspire to equip our pupils with the skills, mindset, and motivation necessary to lead active, healthy lives and make a positive impact in the world.
Support One Another: We create a supportive environment where pupils encourage and uplift one another through teamwork, cooperation, and shared physical challenges. Through collaborative activities, pupils develop respect and camaraderie, learning the value of working together to achieve personal and collective goals.
Honest: Physical education teaches the importance of honesty in both individual and team sports. We encourage pupils to demonstrate integrity by following rules, playing fairly, and recognizing their strengths and areas for growth. By embracing honesty, pupils build trust and sportsmanship in all their physical pursuits.
Communicate: Effective communication is key in physical education, whether giving instructions, strategizing in team games, or providing constructive feedback. We foster an environment where pupils learn to express themselves clearly, listen actively, and engage in meaningful discussions to improve their performance and teamwork.
Responsible: We instil a sense of responsibility in pupils, encouraging them to take ownership of their physical well-being, respect equipment and facilities, and demonstrate sportsmanship. By promoting safety, discipline, and accountability, we empower pupils to make informed choices about their health and fitness.
Confidence: Physical education helps build confidence by allowing pupils to set and achieve personal goals, develop new skills, and overcome challenges. We create opportunities for every pupil to experience success, fostering self-belief and encouraging them to take on new physical challenges with determination and enthusiasm.
Resilient: Growth in physical education comes through persistence and perseverance. We teach pupils to embrace setbacks as opportunities for improvement, reinforcing that effort and determination lead to progress. Whether learning a new skill or facing competition, pupils develop resilience that extends beyond physical activity and into all aspects of life.
Respectful: Respect is fundamental in physical education—respect for oneself, for others, and for the game. We encourage pupils to appreciate different abilities, follow rules, and demonstrate good sportsmanship. By valuing fair play and inclusivity, we create an environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and motivated to participate.
